PREREQUISITE:  As stated in the A.I.S.D General Course Guideline, to be enrolled in French II, you must have credit in French I and Previous course work or approval by the teacher.

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION:  The course encompasses aural/oral skills, reading comprehension, grammar, and composition, emphasizing the use of French for active communication with the following objectives:

·        The ability to comprehend formal an informal spoken French

·        The acquisition of vocabulary and a grasp of structure to allow the easy, accurate reading of newspaper and magazine articles, as well as of literature in French

·        The ability to compose expository passages

·        The ability to express ideas orally with accuracy and fluency

·        The ability to apply language skills

 

MATERIALS:

  • French-English/English-French Dictionary
  • Blue or black pen for writing assignments, taking notes and taking tests.
  • Pencil (#2 lead) for taking tests and quizzes on Scantron answer sheets.
  • Notebook paper for writing assignments.
  • Editing pen(s) or pencil(s) in color(s) other than blue or black.
  • Looseleaf binder for organizing assignments
  • Composition notebook or blank journal (100 pages) for journal entries

 

CALENDAR OF ASSIGNMENT:

            Students will receive a calendar of assignments each month.

CLASS PARTICIPATION:  Every student will begin each six weeks with a 100 for class participation.  It is up to the individual to comply with the factors defining that grade.  Each time an infraction is committed, the student will lose a point from this grade.

MAKE-UP WORK:  It is the responsibility of the student to ask for any make-up work whenever absent for any reason.  Students have two days per absence to complete make-up work.  When absent, students are encouraged to consult their French calendars.

 

LATE WORK:  20 points will be deducted daily for late work.
